The Hallway Project

The Hallway Project is an individualized, project-based program aimed at providing
traditionally unsuccessful students with the opportunity to recover missing credits and
take control over their education. Many of these young people are overage and undercredited and have had trouble learning and earning credits in the classroom environment. They are often described as disruptive or oppositional defiant; they feel little ownership over what they are learning; they have difficulty staying focused, meeting external timetables and organizing work.

Despite numerous interventions on the part of their schools, there are many students who continue to struggle. The Hallway Project provides these students with an environment where they are empowered to design individual projects and work at their own pace. Through meetings with a teacher these students take part in the design of projects that
meet the standards of the state sanctioned curriculum. By allowing these students the
choice to focus their studies on the content areas that pique their individual interests,

The Hallway Project has helped many students earn back credits and rediscover their desire to learn.

What is The Hallway Project?
There are far too many students who are not being reached in our public education system.

It is necessary to rethink the educational methods we are using and consider creating new structures in order to reach those students.
